About This Blog

I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

That's a very attractive high water sign actually. I've seen them in places before, but just white signs with the number painted on them. They always make me glad I'm there when I can actually SEE a lot of numbers

Hard to believe it was ever at that highest peak. Holy cow! That's a neat sign, though, compared to just a wooden sign with white tick marks and numbers on it!

What a beautiful piece of artwork to commemorate disaster. Let's hope it never gets as high as 1997 again.

My sign is posted at my Drive-By Photos blog this week.

Oh, yes, let's do hope it doesn't get that high again. Beautiful, unusual capture for the day, Martha!

WOW, that is a really cool sign. But kind of scary to think the flooding got so high.

Usually when it hasn't been that high in awhile, it means you're due for a flood. Let's hope for the best! :)

That is a beautiful, artistic sign. It kind of makes the 1937 flood look like a trickle.

That's a brilliant flood level sign.

@Luna... if we had this in Manila there would be NO empty spaces! :-( Very artsy commemoration for floodings...

Whoa! Wouldn't have wanted to be around in 1997!!! Was anything left standing??

Nice flood sign, in Ohio they are painted on the bridges or buildings.

Wow, that gets my attention. On our trip to Gulf Shores Alabama this past summer lots of businesses are marks on the wall showing how high the various hurricanes caused the water to go the last 20 years or so.
