About This Blog

I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

and I love your post title

soft angles....beautiful!!! I've always wondered how they make a flat 2x4 curvy like that...do they soak it in water while it is tied into a certain shape?

I'd like to follow that bold, shadowy path to wherever it leads. Of course, after sundown I'd be out of luck!

SHADOW BOLD

Shadow bold and shadow bright,
Shadow with me day and night,
Shadow taller than a tree,
Tell me what you think of me!

Desert shadows here and here

I'm sitting here alone, and I just breathed aloud, "Ahhh, wow!" when I saw this photo.
It is wonderful.
What an absolutely amazing fence, with fabulous shadows. I knew wood could be made to curve, of course (boat-building, for instance) but I've never seen anything like this. Gorgeous!
If the state of California doesn't commission you to do a book, it will be missing out on one of the most wonderful resources it has—you and your camera.

Wonderful shadows. And, as an old industrial arts teacher, Bill would get a kick out of your post title. He loved working with wood.
