About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

Elegant patterns indeed.
is that natural? or caused by an insect?
I have the same question that Tex does -- is it natural or bug-made?? Fascinating capture, Martha! Hope your week is off to a good start and that you are doing well! Take care, enjoy!
Oh, good eye to spot this--a natural mutation? Looks almost like an heiroglypic drawing. I spotted something on a plant leaf like this in the park recently--not as dramatic though.
You can see a tiny caterpillar at the right hand end of the image. I didn't notice it when I took the picture.
Oh my...I spotted the caterpillar right away...and assumed s/he is responsible for the a'maze'ing pattern!
Incredible shot!
Wow, I also thought at first, you made these signs. It`s amazing!
Excellent shot ~ Wow! great patterns ~ (A Creative Harbor)
What a fascinating find!
I'm stumped... can't imagine what made that pattern. I would guess an insect, but it looks too regular.
What a great capture - you had sharp eyes to spot this one - lovely.
Insect as artist...
Great find and photo!
great capture..
