About This Blog

I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

Nice one. Love those colors and the old fence was a bonus too.

I totally agree with Scott. The bird is beautiful and worthy of a photo on it's own. Add in the the rustic fence bracing and it's even better. This is the second time I've seen and mentioned "fence bracing" in a post today.

What a great shot, Martha. Did it take you a long time to get it or did he just happen to go under the fence as you were watching? He's gorgeous, and, as others have said, in a perfect setting.

I just looked around your blog a bit. Love your creative, active shots. I'm in Monterey County and have been shooting here for about a year. I like the way you have broken your photos down by county. Looks like you have a California picture book in the makings.

What a great shot of the rooster pheasant under the fence. I never am able to capture pheasants.

You can't keep a good pheasant away from where he wants to go!
