About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at
Martha's Musings.

Is that a usual place for wood ducks to be?
How cool to have taken their photo in a tree. I have never seen a wood duck myself.
I guess it makes ssense that a "wood" duck would be comfortable in a tree, but I've never seen it before!
Very nice photo!
These are TOO cute! And, no, I haven't seen a wood duck before either and surely not in a tree!! Terrific capture, Martha, as always!
Enjoy your day!

Adorable! - I've never seen ducks in a tree before... I never would have guessed they would enjoy spending time there.
Wow, never seen them on trees before. Great shot:)
oh what a cute pair. i haven't seen them on trees either.
Is it mating season where you are? One seldom gives thought to the fact that ducks unlike geese, nest in trees.
A lovely capture and what a colourful drake!
They are a cute couple, great capture!
I've never seen a wood duck or a duck/s in a tree before. Thanks for sharing.
such a sweet shot, Martha! Wood Ducks seem to flush so easily , that's great they posed for you!
