About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at
Martha's Musings.

That is perfect. I love the clarity and shadows on it too! Great shot.
What a wondrous flower!
I’M FOND OF CERISE
For red my affection is great,
It’s puce and chartreuse that I hate.
I’m fond of cerise,
It makes a nice piece
Of clothing that looks just first-rate.

Beautiful shot!
Happy RT.
Mine's here.
I have found a new favorite flower!!
they are magnificent
I just have to go high enough up a mountain and find a soggy riverbank, and there they will be, obtaining nutrition from the roots of other plants by injecting them with...okay, I forget that part, but I did look it up, and it is gorgeous indeed (even if cannibalistic).
You find the most fascinating things to photograph, Martha. Wow.

Love the shot and the wildflower.
And so they are!

What incredible flowers. I've never seen them but I'd like to have them growing all over the place! Just delightful!

I didn't know the name. Such pretty ones.
Oh, this is wonderful....I really wonder if I would have seen the elephants if you had not mentioned them.
