About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

Nice capture! I was a little too far away for great firework photos this year ,so I am enjoying all the ones on Skywatch!

Like the previous commenter: no fireworks for me either, so I also enjoy these. Al has some as well today.
now that is perfect.
Fabulous photo of fireworks, Martha. The colors are so crisp and clear.
I was visiting my youngest brother on the evening of the 4th, and no one else was home. We were both reading when we heard booming noises from across the US border nearby. We were too lazy to get up, go out, get in the car, and drive to a vantage point. But we were thinking about your country's birthday!

I love this shot. We missed out on displays on the 4th, although we did get to enjoy a big do at the Ballpark a couple of weeks ago. The dry weather put the kibosh on many local displays, and although ours went ahead we didn't feel like messing with traffic and heat. Glad you got a bit of visual celebration out of it.
Once again we missed the fireworks - the perils of having a young child. I am determined next year we shall go to a show. I've never tried photographing fireworks.
Your photo is wonderful - great photography in action.
Stunning, dazzling shot!

Can you tell me one thing: Why
Are you intent on fleeing
Far from human sight and seeing?
