About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at
Martha's Musings.

i hope he is sure-footed and sure-winged!
Oops! Is it cool there? Bob and I were talking about CA yesterday - he said he thinks you're having a cold snap.
Hopefully his wingspan is not large enough to touch two wires at once. I hear that's when they get in trouble.
A majestic looking bird. He looks quite comfortable up there.
A scary perch for the RedTail. Beautiful shot!
I guess the hawk can't read. :)
Raptors always choose the funniest places to hunt and perch from...those poles, now if only they could read what the signs say. I took an image a couple of weeks ago and a Red-shouldered Hawk that was sitting on the post of a sign that said "For Lease";")~
I wish I had the balance of these creatures :)
Dramatic message with the bird captured right nearby! Fantastic photo!
Wow, incredible shot. Hope that hawk manages to avoid any electrical harm.
Nice photo. As long as he is not ground he will be fine.
Great shot! Handsome bird.
