I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush. In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

Railtown 1897
5/21/2011
This California State Historic Park is to be closed later this year.
I hate to think of parks closing, and I've never seen this one. What do you suppose they're going to do with the railcars? When I was living alone, I always thought it would be fun to convert a caboose into a residence. Sigh. — K

Have to agree with Louis, so sad that so many parks are closing and I ask the same question -- why don't they deal with budget issues that they created???? And I'm certain it isn't just CA! Terrific capture, wonderful composition and gorgeous skies!

oh that's a Ruby Tuesday shot too!
Speaking of historic trains...
It's too bad CA is closing parks because of the budget - and not addressing the real issues that have created the budget crisis...

How sad that California parks are being closed! The future doesn't sound very good, methinks.
It really is a shame.
Beautiful! I really like the old,red train against the wonderful sky!
Have a nice day!
Love this capture. Very well done.
Too bad, they shouldn't close it down. Its symbolic of an bygone era. Nice shot!
The red of the train against the blue sky is beautiful.
