About This Blog
I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

My eye was immediately drawn to the vastness of the tree!!
That old house looks so serene and inviting. I'd like to "set a spell" on the porch!
IF YOU SEE A SHADOW
If you see a shadow
And want to keep it near,
Point your trusty shooter
(Make sure the lens is clear);
Press with care the shutter,
Do not slam or sock it—
Then you’ll have a photo
To carry in your pocket!

Shadows Dancing
This tree is huge, the resultant shadow quite impressive. The cottage seems diminutive, the classic small home nestled in a forest. The vast blue sky above adds a neat perspective to a bold frame!
WOW! That is a huge tree! And what a terrific shadow shot it makes! Terrific capture, Martha, I love it! And, of course, I love the blue skies and such a neat little cottage! Hope you have a lovely, sunny weekend!

Beautiful shadow shot!
My Shadow Shots, have a great weekend!
J'aime beaucoup la simplicité de cette photo. Bravo
I'm wondering how many people joining hands it would take to encircle that tree. very nice shadow shot, and ours are similar, you're right! this is very nicely composed photo. happy SSS!
The contrast of colors and shadows is wonderful!
I just sat for a moment, imaging myself in the serenity of this photo. Wonderful!

Great photo! I seem to remember this place being up around Redbluff. We stumbled upon it by accident. We were looking for a road to take over to the coast. We found the road, but were very scared by all the logging trucks speeding on it...
I love the rich browns, I can almost smell the humus. Beautiful, welcoming, peaceful.
There is a lot of 'drama' in this photo...I love it.
