About This Blog

I began this blog in 2011 in an attempt to improve my photography and showcase all of California's 58 counties. I didn't quite make all of the 58, I missed three and I will try to rectify that in the coming year. I'm not sure how much I improved my photography because I always seemed to be in a rush.
In 2012 I plan to take more time, perhaps not post every day (this is one thing I did accomplish in 2011). I also plan to expand beyond California and include images from other parts of Western United States. I will continue to include a map showing where I was when I took the picture. I will keep commentary to a minimum, long photo essays will continue to be at Martha's Musings.

Wonderful composition.

«Louis» always enjoys geometrical shots like this. His normal subject matter rarely affords an opportunity to get photos with nice geometrical patterns. Also, having grown up in the Texas panhandle farm country and having had several relatives who were and still are farmers, he appreciates seeing farm implements. Very nice shot!

I like the angle of the shot and how you've shot close in to the subject. Oh, and the rust is very attractive too, not to mention the shadows. :)

The farm implement is massive ant the wheels have some surface rust. So the device is monstrous we think. However, the 3-D shadows on the rusty pieces evoke a flower, perhaps a daisy. The industrial strength design is lovely as a result!

Lots of work and shadows can be found on a farm. I lived on one when growing up.

I can never look at a disc harrow without remembering the story of my maternal great-grandfather, who met his end by falling off a horse-drawn harrow, and being chopped up. A yucky story, but it makes for great family history!

SHADOW, WILL YOU?

Shadow, will you always be
Here where I can always see
What you do and how you play?
Or will you just slip away?

Now this is a creative shot. Love the rusty equipment, low angle, and of course the shadows.

I like this! It's always interesting to see shots like this and imagine them out working in the fields.
